GASTRONOMY
In Monterrey you can try exquisite meat dishes,
such as the famous cabrito, young goat that is
roasted or cooked in its juices. Other popular dishes include carne zaraza (braised kid) and dried meat known as machaca, which is generally prepared with scrambled eggs.
All of these dishes come accompanied with beans, flour tortillas and spicy
salsas known as pico de gallo,
la bandera and la fresadilla.
The regional beverage of preference is beer. As for dessert, don?t forget to
indulge in the traditional glorias,
sweets prepared with goat?s milk and nuts, as well as the fruit preserves and besitos de leche (milk-candy
kisses).
