In Monterrey?s museums you can learn about the
interesting history and cultural development of the city and its surrounding
areas.
Museo de
Arte Contemporaneo (Contemporary Art Museum,
or MARCO)
? Located between Zuazua and Padre Raymundo Jardon streets, in the Colonia Centro. Architect Ricardo Legoretta designed this modern edifice.
This museum has 11 showrooms with a
permanent collection of Latin America?s most
important contemporary art. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 7:00.
Museo de Historia Mexicana (Museum of Mexican
History). Located at Dr. Coss 445 Sur. Here you?ll see an
exhibit that offers a broad overview of Mexican history. Open Tuesday through
Friday from 9:30 to 5:30 and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 to 6:30.
Museo del Vidrio (Glass
Museum). Located at Zaragoza y Magallanes 517, in the Treviño neighborhood. This museum has numerous pieces of
beautiful glass objects that were made using various techniques. Open daily
from 9:00 to 6:00.
Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey (Monterrey
Metropolitan Museum). Located
at Zaragoza and Corregidora, in the Antiguo Palacio Municipal. The exhibits at this museum focus
on the history and traditions of Monterrey.
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 6:00.
Museo Regional de Nuevo Leon (Nuevo Leon Regional Museum). Located on Rafael Jose Verger Street,
in the Obispado neighborhood. This museum features
exhibits that chronicle the history and culture of Mexico?s northeast region.
Salón de la Fama (Hall of Fame). Located
at Av. Alfonso Reyes 2202 Norte, in the gardens of the Cuauhtemoc
Brewery. Inaugurated in 1973, at this place you can learn about the history of
Mexican baseball. Open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 to 5:30 and Saturdays
and Sundays from 10:30 to 6:30.
