FISHING
If you?re looking for a remote area to go
fishing, you?ll find it in Morelia. All you need
is ingenuity and a lot of
patience since some of the
best fishing spots are in the city?s outlying
areas.
Presa de Umecuaro
? Lies 14 km
(9mi) southwest of Morelia.
Take Highway 14 in
the Patzcuaro direction and then take the Umecuaro turnoff toward the Cointizio
Dam. Considered the area with the
highest concentration of tributaries in the Lake
Patzcuaro
valley, it is ideal for trout fishing. In the town,
you?ll find equipment rentals and tour guides willing to take
you out on a relaxing fishing trip for one
day, or for
several days if you prefer
to stay out longer.
Parque Nacional Bosencheve ? Located 166 km (102 mi) east of Morelia
off Highway 15, near the Michoacan-State of Mexico
border. At this spot, fishing enthusiasts have the opportunity to catch bass
and carp at the Verde and Seca lagoons. All you?ll need is good
fishing gear and some patience.
