Mountain climbing enthusiasts will find colossal rock and ice formations in Mexico, with some peaks still waiting to be conquered. You can discover new paths rising to elevations that few climbers have reached, and from high above you will marvel at the mountains and valleys below. When Mountain climbing in Mexico, you can explore many different types of terrain, get an excellent workout, be one with nature and attain all your climbing goals. Mexico?s most challenging peaks are the Pico de Orizaba, which lies 5,610 meters (18,500 feet) above sea level, and Popocatepetl, which is 5,452 meters (17,990 feet) high. If you are a novice, you can tackle something smaller like the Ajusco, which is 3,900 meters (12,800 feet) high and ideal for treks and day trips.
