BEACHES
The beaches of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo are ideal spots for
relaxing and doing aquatic sports. Among the most visited beaches are:
Playa Blanca ? Located 25 km (15 mi) south of Zihuatanejo.
At this quiet beach you?ll find a colony of an endangered bird species. Here
you can explore the Barra de Potosi Lagoon.
Playa Larga ? Located 5 km (3 mi) south of Zihuatanejo. At
this 20 km
(14-mi) beach you can do various aquatic sports.
Playa La Ropa
? Located southeast of Playa Municipal, on Av. Paseo de la
Bahia, in Zihuatanejo.
This beach
has calm waters and a wide variety of restaurants and hotels. It?s also ideal for
doing
all kinds of water sports.
Playa Las Gatas ? Located south of the Zihuatanejo Bay, on Av. Paseo de la Bahia. This
beach of rocky landscape is a popular family destination thanks to its calm
waters.
Playa La Madera
? Located east of Playa Municipal, off Av. Paseo del Palmar. The fine sand of this beach extends
about 200 meters
(660 feet).

Playa El Palmar ? This beach?s entrance is on Blvd.
Ixtapa. It?s about 3 km (2 mi) long and has one of the
most important tourist resorts in the nation. It?s also ideal for doing aquatic
sports.
Playa Quieta ? Located 6 km (4 mi) west of Ixtapa, off
Highway 200. This beach
with small waves is ideal for relaxing or enjoying various water sports.
Isla Ixtapa ? Located 20 minutes by boat from
Playa Quieta. On this
island you?ll find a group of three beaches: Varadero del Coral, Cuachalalate
and Carey, which all are incredibly beautiful and optimal for doing aquatic
sports.
