GASTRONOMY
The delicious
cuisine of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo stands out for its fish
and seafood dishes, including pescada a la
talla (grilled fish), camaronillas (shrimp tacos),
tiritas (strips of marinated fish) and tacos de pescado (fish
tacos). In the downtown areas you?ll find
stalls serving tamales,
atoles (cornmeal beverages),
tacos de pollo con consome (chicken
tacos with consommé),
chalupitas (tortillas layered with
various ingredients),
Guerrero-style pozole (a hominy soup) and
even international fare. In Ixtapa, the most popular alcoholic drink is mezcal, which is produced locally.
