ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS EVENTS

 

Hermosillo and its surrounding areas host important sporting events that draw renowned figures in bicycling and fishing. The tournaments take place in beautiful natural settings such as the Sonoran desert and along the coast of the Sea of Cortez.

 

Insomnia 12 Horas ? This 12-hour night race draws important competitors in mountain biking. It is held in October on the La Joya track.

 

International Fishing Tournaments ? Hermosillo host various fishing competitions, including the Women?s International Fishing Tournament at the Guaymas Bay in May, the San Carlos International Fishing Tournament in August (one of the region?s oldest tournaments), and the Labor Day Tournament, during which competitors catch fish that weigh over 100 kilograms (220 pounds).
