MUSEUMS
In Hermosillo you can visit various museums that
offer a broad overview of Sonora?s
culture, including information about the customs of regional ethnic groups. You
also can learn about the archaeological sites in the surrounding areas.
Museo de Sonora ? Located on the corner
of Jesus Garcia and Presbitero Esteban Sarmiento, in Colonia La Matanza.
This museum has 20 showrooms in which you can learn about the
history of the region?s inhabitants, from the pre-Hispanic era to the 20th
century. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 5:00 and Sundays from 9:00
to 4:00.
Museo Regional de la Universidad de Sonora ? Located on the corner
of Rosales and Luis Encinas. At this museum you can
learn about what everyday life was like in the region?s primitive societies and
get a better understanding of Sonora?s
important archaeological ruins. It also has a library, a bookstore and an art
gallery. Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 1:00 and 4:00 to 6:00.
