FESTIVALS
AND TRADITIONS
Hermosillo?s most important
celebrations draw on national religious traditions and customs of the region?s
ethnic groups. Among the most notable festivities are: La Fiesta de la Candelaria
(Candlemas Celebration) in February, Virgin of
Guadalupe Day on Dec. 12, and Day of the Dead in November. During Holy Week,
the Mayo and Yaqui Indians celebrate with Matachin and Pascola dances
performances. You?ll also see various processions that are held to honor the
passion and death of Jesus Christ.
