In Hermosillo?s surrounding areas you?ll
find coasts with clear waters where you can observe a wide variety of marine
species along artificial reefs that are ideal for scuba diving.
Bahia Kino. Located 107
km (66 mi) west of Hermosillo, off Highway 16. This
bay offers pleasant weather and clear waters, allowing you to see hundreds of
fish species, crustaceans, manta rays and sea lions.
San Carlos. Located in Guaymas, 133 km (82
mi) south of Hermosillo Here you can
go scuba diving along two artificial reefs formed from the remains of a sunken
boat and ferry, which are home to various colonies of fish and marine plants.
Isla Tiburon (Tiburon Island). Lies 137
km (85 mi) west of Hermosillo, in front of Punta Chueca.
This is the state?s largest island and it includes a biosphere reserve that
covers an area of 1200 sq. kilometers (480 sq. miles). The reserve has a
semi-desert ecosystem that is home to various indigenous species. Off the coast
of this ecological zone you?ll find strong currents that will add some
excitement to your diving adventure.
