CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- El museo El Estanquillo de la Ciudad de México
presenta la exposición Diseccionando
fantasías: los secretos de Guillermo del Toro en la cual se reúnen
materiales de producción, storyboards, arte conceptual, maquetas y dibujos productos
de la imaginación del realizador mexicano, quien declaró para el diario
capitalino El Universal: “La
exposición ha viajado por España y en realidad es responsabilidad de Carlos Durban, quien recopiló una gran cantidad de mi material
fílmico. Es una expo muy entretenida- audiovisual. Llena de ejemplos claros de
la elaboración de imágenes que van desde el bosquejo o ilustración en mis
libretas hasta el resultado final. Es el acervo más abundante de este tipo de
material”. El material recopilado, en el cual se refleja la impresionante
fauna imaginaria del realizador tapatío –desde bocetos para monstruos
hasta diseños para artefactos-, abarca la mayor parte de su obra fílmica, desde
guiones gráficos y apuntes realizados para su ópera prima, Cronos. Estará abierta al público hasta el próximo 16 de agosto.

Diccionario de cine nuevoleonés

MONTERREY, N.L.- Un grupo de críticos cinematográficos y
especialistas en esta disciplina artística emprendieron un proyecto bajo el
título de Diccionario de cine nuevoleonés,
como una respuesta a la falta de documentación en
torno al cine originario de Nuvo León. En parte, este
esfuerzo va de la mano del reciente auge cinematográfico que se ha vivido en el
norte del país. De acuerdo a Diana González, una de las coordinadoras del
proyecto, “Lo que se busca es documentar la historia del cine de Nuevo
León”. La investigación también estará coordinada por Maximiliano Maza y
Genaro Saúl Reyes. El proyecto, que pronto cambiará de manos, y en gran parte
debido a esto, se encuentra apenas en su primera etapa de investigación que
consiste en la recopilación de datos de las producciones cinematográficas
hechas en este estado, ya sea por personas de la localidad o bien que hayan
estado relaciones de un modo u otro con Nuevo León. Los organizadores
aprovecharon la ocasión para abrir una convocatoria a los realizadores a mandar
información sobre sus producciones, que hayan tomado lugar o que tomarán en el
estado de Nuevo León al correo critica@dianagonzalez.com.mx.

Ambulante abre convocatoria

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- Se abrió la convocatoria para la próxima
edición de Ambulante Gira de Documentales, el festival de cine realizado en
colaboración con la productora Canana, Cinépolis y el
Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia y que fue fundado en 2005. Para la
convocatoria, que estará abierta desde el próximo 1 de junio hasta el 1 de
septiembre de este año, se recibirán documentales de temática libre realizados
entre 2008 y 2009 y que no hayan sido estrenados. Los documentales
seleccionados para formar parte de la gira serán proyectados en 16 ciudades de
la República Mexicana, entre febrero y abril de 2010. El festival, además de
propuestas mexicanas, trae a México documentales que no han tenido una
distribución importante en nuestro país. Organizado en distintas secciones que
se concentran en temáticas específicas –desde temas sociales hasta
manifestaciones culturales- Ambulante Gira de Documentales se ha vuelto la punta
de lanza en el cine mexicano en la distribución de este género con, hasta
ahora, poca presencia en los cines de nuestro país. Por lo demás, varias de las

Los que se quedan, en la Cineteca Nacional

DE MÉXICO.- El jueves 4 de junio se llevará a cabo en la Cineteca Nacional la
función de prensa del documental Los que
se quedan, de Juan Carlos Rulfo y Carlos Hagerman.
Los directores y la productora de la cinta, Martha Sosa, estarán en la
proyección para sostener una sesión de preguntas y respuestas con los medios. Los que se quedan tuvo su estreno
mundial el año pasado en una función especial en el Festival Internacional de
Cine de Morelia y se proyectó en el 2009 en el Festival Internacional de Cine
en Guadalajara. En mayo, el documental obtuvo el Primer Premio del Jurado de
Largometraje de Creación en el Festival Internacional de Documentales Documenta
Madrid. La cinta sigue las historias de nueve familias, en diferentes ciudades
del país, quienes han sufrido las consecuencias de la inmigración; en cada una
de ellas alguno de sus miembros se ha ido a Estados Unidos. En el filme se
presenta el efecto de esa ausencia desde diversos puntos de vista, mostrando
cómo los familiares continúan con su vida, siempre con esa sensación permanente
de estar incompletos. Los que se quedan
se exhibirá en la Cineteca Nacional dentro del 29 Foro Internacional, el sábado
13 y el domingo 14 de junio. El documental estará en cines comerciales a
finales de este mes.

Pedroza: Premio Nacional de
Cuento

La escritora chihuahuense Liliana Pedroza ganó el Premio Nacional de Cuento
Joven Julio Torri 2009 por su libro Cartografía del Abismo. El jurado del
certamen, integrado por Verónica Murguía, Mauricio Montiel Figueiras
y Jesús de León Montalvo, coincidió en que la obra de Pedroza “tiene una
mirada literaria propia y cuenta con una voz narrativa definida en su conjunto,
que puede reconocerse por los distintos registros anecdóticos que
reproduce”. El Programa Cultural Tierra Adentro del Consejo Nacional para
la Cultura y las Artes y el Instituto Coahuilense de Cultura, anunciaron a la
ganadora del premio que consiste en 50 mil pesos, un diploma y la publicación
de su obra. La mención honorífica fue para Alfredo Leal Rodríguez por La especie que nos une. Liliana Pedroza
nació en Chihuahua en 1976. Estudió Letras Españolas en la Universidad Autónoma
de Chihuahua y es doctora por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Fue becaria
del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes y del Fondo Estatal David Alfaro
Siqueiros. El Premio Nacional de Cuento Joven Julio Torri
fue creado en 2001 por el Conaculta y el Instituto
Coahuilense de Cultura, para apoyar a jóvenes escritores mexicanos.

Gutiérrez Vega convive con
colonos

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- El poeta Hugo Gutiérrez Vega pasó la tarde del
sábado pasado acompañado por colonos del barrio Pedregal de Santo Domingo, como
parte de las celebraciones que se han llevado a cabo en la ciudad por su
cumpleaños número 75 del pasado febrero, mismo que se celebró en el Palacio de
Bellas Artes. Ahora, en el Centro de Artes y Oficios Escuelita Emiliano Zapata,
el poeta pasó un tiempo con los colonos donde, a pesar de un apagón, leyó de su
libro Gutiérrez Vega: Peregrinaciones,
poesía 1965-2001. El poeta, de este modo, pasó una “velada
íntima” en compañía de un público que rondó los treinta participantes, de
acuerdo a lo reportado por el diario capitalino La Jornada. El poeta, director de La Jornada Semanal, afirmó: “Estoy en un lugar que ha
renovado formas solidarias”. En efecto, el Centro de Artes y Oficios
donde llevó a cabo su lectura, fundado hace quince años, forma parte de un
importante proyecto cultural creado por los colonos del Pedregal de Santo
Domingo, barrio fundado en 1971. El recital, a pesar del mal tiempo, inició a
las 7:30 de la noche. Entre los poemas que leyó se encontró su pieza dedicada a
Orwell y a su novela 1984, misma que,
de acuerdo con el poeta, lamentablemente fue precisa en sus predicciones.
CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- Guadalupe Nettel
(Ciudad de México, 1973), autora de la novela El huésped (2006) recibió por su libro de cuentos Pétalos y otras historias incómodas el
Premio de Narrativa AntoninArtaud
que, de este modo, llega a su sexta edición. El premio, que ha sido entregado
en otras ediciones a autores como Álvaro Uribe (2003), Fabrizio
Mejía Madrid (2004), David Toscana (2005), Fabio Morábito
(2006) y Juan Villoro (2007), es organizado por la Embajada de Francia en
nuestro país, tiene una dote de 70 mil pesos. Además, se asegura la traducción
del libro al francés y su edición en el mismo país. Pétalos y otras historias incómodas ya había recibido el Premio
Gilberto Owen. De acuerdo a lo reportado por el diario capitalino La Jornada, el jurado del premio entregó
el premio a este libro de cuentos por “la extraña intimidad y tensión
traumática, lograda con una escritura atemperada”. El jurado de esta
edición del premio estuvo compuesto por Alberto Ruy Sánchez, José María Espinasa, PhilippeOlleLaprune, MitchiStrausfeld, Margo Glantz, AnnieMorvan y Juan Villoro.
Durante la ceremonia, que se llevó a cabo en la residencia del embajador de
Francia en México, Daniel Parfait, se recordó la
participación de México en el reciente Salón del Libro de París.

Manuel de Elías: 70 años

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- El maestro Manuel de Elías fue homenajeado en
el Palacio de Bellas Artes por sus 70 años –que cumple el próximo 5 de
junio- y aniversario número 55 como compositor y director de orquesta. Durante
el mismo evento, Manuel de Elías dirigió la Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes
(OCBA), misma que dirigió entre 1985 y 1987. Para la ocasión, condujo a la
orquesta en un programa que incluía piezas para trombón de Johann George Albrechtsberger (1736-1809) y DariusMilhaud (1892-1974), de acuerdo a lo reportado por el
diario capitalino Milenio. Además, se interpretaron piezas del mismo Manuel de
Elías, cinco en total: "Cartas de primavera" (1986),
"Adagio" (1983), "Mictlán-Tlatelolco"
(1986), "Poema" (1988) y "Sonante No. 6, homenaje a Neruda"
(1973). Las celebraciones por su cumpleaños seguirán durante este mes de junio
(hoy se le dedicará un programa especial en la estación Opus 94). Además, el 5
de junio próximo se llevará a cabo un concierto dedicado a su obra. Entre el
acervo de obras del compositor se encuentran más de 180 piezas. Próximamente,
además, viajará a San Salvador para dirigir la pieza “Septum”,
un estreno de Germán Cáceres; posteriormente, se trasladará a Colombia donde

Bitrán y Prieto en Marco

NUEVO LEÓN.- El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Marco) de la ciudad
de Monterrey ofrecerá el día de mañana, a las 20:30 horas, un dúo de chelos en
el cual participarán los maestros Álvaro Bitrán y
Carlos Prieto (en imagen). El concierto inaugurará Festival Internacional de
Música Contemporánea, que llega de este modo a su edición séptima no sólo con
un impresionante programa sino con la característica de que será de entrada
libre para sus conciertos y talleres. Carlos Prieto, una figura reconocida en
Monterrey, habló en los siguientes términos sobre el apoyo económico que se le
ha dado al festival a pesar de la crisis que se vive mundialmente: “Me
parece que tiene una importancia aúnmayor, porque no sólo de pan vive la gente, y en estas épocas difíciles
es muy importante tener cosas que hacer, y si tienen que ver con el arte,
mejor”. Entre las piezas que interpretará con Álvaro Bitrán
se encuentra Danzas latinoamericanas,
del también regiomontano José Luis Elizondo. El Festival Internacional de
Música Contemporánea continuará hasta el próximo domingo y se llevará a cabo en
distintas sedes, como el Aula Magna del Colegio Civil, el auditorio Silvestre
Revueltas de la Facultad de Música de la UANL y la Escuela Superior de Música y
Danza.

Meza: jazz en México

DE MÉXICO.- De acuerdo con la cantante Elizabeth Meza, una de las figuras más
importantes en la cultura musical contemporánea de nuestro País (con una
carrera enfocada al jazz que abarca ya dos décadas), el género de Jazz vive un
momento inmejorable, “un movimiento muy importante”, en México.
Esta declaración la hizo para el diario capitalino Milenio, momentos antes de que realizara un recital en la Sala
Silvestre Revuelas, del Centro Cultura OllinYoliztli. Sobre el Jazz, atribuyó su resurgimiento al
renovado aprecio del público: “La gente está entendiendo que existen
otros géneros musicales y que eso, de alguna manera, es culturizarse. Incluso
diversas instituciones han abierto sus puertas al jazz, incluyendo a los medios
de comunicación”, afirmó. El recital que llevó a cabo Meza, que consistió
en una pieza de 2004, Nocturnal, se
llevó a cabo dentro del marco del ciclo Jazz
en la Ciudad, organizado por la Secretaría de Cultura del Distrito Federal.
Nocturnal también corresponde al título de su segundo disco. Se presentó
acompañada del pianista Enrique Nery y presentó
piezas de Mario Ruiz Armengol, María Grever y Van Mirrison, tales como “Cry
me a River”, “Cherokee”,
“Speaklow”,

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- Julio Amador Pech
presentó un libro que funcionará como un ABC para quienes estén interesados en
el arte contemporáneo. El libro o manual se presenta bajo el título de El significado de la obra de arte.
Conceptos básicos para la interpretación de las artes visuales. De acuerdo por
lo afirmado por el autor, el libro puede definirse sencillamente como
“una propuesta para interpretar las obras de arte, en particular de las
artes visuales y con énfasis especial en la pintura”. De este modo, el
libro acompaña al espectador en su enfrentamiento con los problemas varios que
plantean las obras de arte contemporáneas, ya sea desde problemas estrictamente
visuales –forma, color, materiales- hasta problemas de simbología
–desde la religiosa hasta la de distintas representaciones de problemas
propios de la condición humana. El manual, publicado por la Universidad
Nacional Autónoma de México, también tiene un fuerte interés por la narración
que se encuentra en las obras de arte: “Muchas obras nos cuentan relatos,
algunos relacionados con las narrativas mitológicas y con las historias de vida
cotidiana, en el arte moderno”. En suma, el libro de Amador Bech, especializado en la antropología del arte, funciona
como guía de interpretación.

Lanzan inéditos de Enrique Ruelas

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- La editorial Escenología
lanzó el compilado de textos inéditos de Enrique Ruelas
(1913-1987). El libro aparecerá bajo el título de Condiciones para la construcción dramática, y como ya se adelanta
en el mismo, se trata de un texto didáctico. Los textos son el resultado de una
serie de conferencias que Ruelas realizó a principios
de la década de 1950. De este modo, de acuerdo a las declaraciones para el
diario capitalino La Jornada del
editor Édgar Ceballos, puede apreciarse una nueva cara de Ruelas,
más allá de su labor como director y maestro, para dimensionarlo también en su
veta de investigador en las artes escénicas. Además, Ceballos subrayó el hecho
de que “por muchos años se mantuvieron ocultas las fuentes originales a
las que recurrió el reconocido dramaturgo y teórico mexicano Rodolfo Usigli para desarrollar su propuesta, así como para
escribir su ensayo literario del autor dramático”. De acuerdo al texto de
Ruelas, estas fuentes se rastrean en un texto del
dramaturgo y guionista estadounidese John Howard Lawson (1894-1977), Teoría
y técnica de la dramaturgia y guión. De este modo, el texto de Ruelas retoma el trabajo de Howard Lawson
así como conceptos Ramón del Valle-Inclán, Rafael Solana y Jorge
Ibargüengoitia.

Festival de San Juan: Bajo la
lluvia

GUADALAJARA.- La Dirección de Actividades Culturales de la
Secretaría de Cultura, a cargo de Carlos Sánchez Quintero, ha propuesto un plan
emergente para la realización de actividades culturales en la ciudad de Jalisco
que se vieron especialmente afectadas a causa del reciente plan de contingencia
sanitaria que se llevó a cabo en el País. El principal problema al cual esta
dirección tuvo que enfrentarse fue el cambio de fechas que, consecuentemente,
coloca los eventos en fechas de lluvias. Para ello, la dirección ha propuesto
que el próximo Festival de San Juan –a realizarse entre el 20 y el 28 de
junio- realizará, además de las actividades culturales acostumbradas, algunas
que estén relacionadas con la lluvia, vista no como un obstáculo sino
“como un elemento dador de vida”, a lo cual el funcionario añadió:
“Debemos hacer un programa lo suficientemente atractivo para que la gente
salga a mojarse”. En cuanto a las artes escénicas, se han planeado dos
actividades principales: un seguimiento a las Jornadas Titiritescas
que presentará algunas de las compañías más importantes en esta disciplina, así
como el concurso teatral que se llevará a cabo en el Ex Convento del Carmen,
con diez compañías participantes. El festival también tiene muestras en otras
disciplinas.

Gala de Ballet en el Teatro de
la Ciudad

DE MÉXICO.- La Compañía Nacional de Danza (CND) presentará en el Teatro de la
Ciudad Esperanza Iris tres funciones bajo el título Noches de Gala de Ballet. El programa incluye un estreno y tres
coreografías que se presentarán los días 5, 6 y 7 de junio. SylvieReynaud, directora de la CND comentó que presentarse
en este recinto les permite continuar su proyecto de dar a conocer su trabajo a
más público: “Si continuamos de esta manera, lograremos una mejor
convocatoria. Además, estamos conscientes de que a este teatro viene gente que
ya nos conoce y gente que jamás ha visto ballet”. El programa se compone
de Las sílfides, un clásico del
romanticismo cuyo autor, Michel Fokine, utilizó la
música de Chopin para recrear un ballet abstracto con estructura de ballet
romántico; Rara avis, con la música
de Haendel y Benedetto Marcello,
obra del coreógrafo Alberto Méndez, quien también participa en el estreno, Tarde en la siesta, el cual considera un
ballet neoclásico-romántico que aborda las memorias de cuatro hermanas que
viven en una época llena de prejuicios impuestos por la sociedad del siglo XX;
el programa cierra con Baile de
graduación, de Enrique Martínez basada en el original de David Lichine, quien usó música de Strauss .

Ceremony of the Pocho Dance--Tenosique,

Dating back to prehispanic
times, the traditional "Pocho" dance
means it's almost Carnaval time in Tabasco. The Pochü consists of a series of dances and other ancient
ceremonies performed by masked dancers, many dressed as jaguars and tigers.
The dance symbolizes the purification of man through the battle between good
and evil. The Pocho performances begin on January
20 at the main park in Tenosique and on all
subsequent Sundays prior to the commencement of Carnival. On the last day,
the dancers dance backwards from the main square to the church where the
dance began.
Mazatlan will host the 2006 Caribbean
World Series (CWS), showcasing baseball talent from around Latin
America. The Dominican
Republic team will defend its title this year against
teams from Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Mexico in a swift and

Festival of the Radishes (Festival de los Rabanos)--Oaxaca, OaxacaState.
Local artisans and sculptors set up stalls
around the main square to display their elaborate pieces of art--made
entirely from radishes! The local crop is used for creating nativity scenes
and famous Mexican figures. Balloons and birds crafted from local flowers add
even more color.

Las Calendas--Oaxaca, OaxacaState.
The
districts of OaxacaCity prepare floats and
costumes for processions held throughout the city. The parades feature marmotas (translucent paper spheres lit from within and
carried aloft on poles) and giant paper mache
people whose arms flop around as the person hidden inside dances.

Liberation of the Turtles?Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero. Most hotels in the region participate in a
special marine animal protection program which includes collecting and
protecting turtle eggs until they hatch and are ready for release. The
releasing event symbolizes the beginning of a new year full of hope for these
marvelous animals.
