GASTRONOMY
Mazatlan?s
cuisine is known mostly for
its fish and seafood dishes
such as shrimp or fish machaca, barbones tamales,
fried tacos
dorados, which are usually
stuffed with shrimp or aguachile (an
odd mix of
cucumber, lime, piquin
chile, red onion and shrimp). Among the drinks you
can try are white atole and pinole (both
are cornmeal beverages), agua de horchata (sweetened
rice water), agua
de tamarindo (tamarind water)
and agua de
cebada (barley water). To top it
all off with
something sweet, indulge in arroz con
leche (rice pudding), capirotada (bread pudding), cocadas (sweets
made from coconuts), or jalea de pitaya (a marmalade made from cactus fruit).
