Mazatlan is a destination where you can observe an abundance of plant
of animal species thanks to the
excellent weather conditions that permit the development
of rich and
varied ecosystems.
Cerro del Creston ? Located 2 km (1.2
mi) south of the port of
Mazatlan, near the sportfishing boats. At the
top of this
hill is the
world?s second tallest lighthouse. Nearly surrounded by ocean water, at
the foot of this hill
you can observe mollusks and small fish
that are brought into tide pools
by the high tide.
Las Tres Islas ? Located
3 km (2 mi) west of Mazatlan. An
Important symbol of Mazatlan, this
group of islands consists of Pajaros, Venados and Lobos. On this
group of islands the region?s
flora and fauna are protected,
making it an important ecological
zone.
Rancho El Venado ? Located
10 km (6 mi) north of Mazatlan?s Historic
Center. This is an excellent
place for hiking and observing flora and fauna; it?s home to more than
30 animal species, including
white-tailed deer, coyotes, woodpeckers, crab spiders and
many others. You can go on
a hike for two to four
hours with experienced guides.
