CAMPING

The surrounding areas of Oaxaca City, which comprise the valleys of Etla, Zimatlan, Ocotlan and Tlacolula, are surrounded by the Madre del Sur, Atravesada and Madre Oriental (or Sierra de Oaxaca) mountains. They provide perfect settings for camping and allow you to explore the biodiversity of the state of Oaxaca.

Parque Nacional Benito Juarez (Benito Juarez National Park). Located 7 km (4 mi) north of Oaxaca City off Highway 190. This national park covers 2,737 hectares (6,760 acres), including the Cerro del Fortin, which hosts the annual regional dances of La Guelaguetza. Due to its magnificent green areas and unparalleled view of the city, this is the ideal place to go camping and enjoy the beautiful landscape that the Sierra de Oaxaca offers.

Trailer Park Oaxaca. Located at 900 Violeta Street, Colonia Union y Progress, near the Zona Militar. This 2-hectare (5-acre) park is ideal for a family camping trip. It has all the necessary services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Llano Grande. Located 66 km (41 mi) east of Oaxaca off Highway 190 in the direction of Tlacolula. At this place, an old Zapotec community, you?ll find the ideal natural environment for camping, especially the Pinavete waterfall zone. The 30-meter (100-foot) waterfall is surrounded by amazing vegetation in a pine and Encino oak forest.
