GASTRONOMY
In
Acapulco, you?ll find a wide variety of
places offering the best in
international cuisine. Among the port
city?s traditional dishes are: ceviche prepared with Sierra fish, octopus in vinegar, clams, various seafood cocktails and the famous
pescado a la talla (the grilled
catch of the day). We
also recommend that you try
the stuffed suckling pig or
the picaditas in Puerto Marques, which
are made by frying tortilla dough
in lard and topping it with
various ingredients and a spicy Serrano chili pepper sauce.
Another
tasty treat is the pellizcada, which in Acapulco is a type of gordita filled with fish,
olives and spices. You?ll also find
fish tamales with Mexican pepper leaf, white rice, white or Guerrero-style green pozole
and coconut sweets. To accompany
the feast, have a drink of
petaquilla, a mescal derivative prepared
with local grapes, or sip on a regional drink called a tuba, prepared with coconut
or regional fruits.
