The city of Zacatecas is located in the center of the country and is the capital of the state with the same name. This city has a rich history, it was home to the Chalchihuites indigenous group and it became an important source of wealth for New Spain five centuries ago due to the abundance of silver deposits found there. The Mexican hero and rebel, Pancho Villa took Zactecas during the Mexican Revolution.
Zacatecas city is a colonial town with a great number of silver and gold mines that can be visited by train. The historic center of Zacatecas has been named a World Heritage Site.
There are several meeting facilities in Zacatecas, including the recently opened Zacatecas Conventions Palace, which has 26 halls and outdoor event spaces from 984 to 19,685 square feet. The Conventions Palace can accommodate 5,000 people. The Zacatecas Fair and Exposition Center has 12 halls that can accommodate 50 to 4,000 people.
There are several five-star hotels in Zacatecas fit for large groups, including the Hotel Spa Hacienda del Bosque which offers 80 suites and event space for up to 1,200 guests, and the Hotel Emporio Zacatecas with 113 guestrooms and event space for 150 attendees.
The Zacatecas International Airport is located in the city of Zacatecas, with direct flights to Mexico City, Tijuana and Los Angeles.
