Veracruz is a very diverse destination famous for its culture and the warm hospitality of its 7.3 million inhabitants. It's traditional festivals, celebrated throughout the year, attract Mexicans and foreigners alike. Veracruz is located on the Gulf of Mexico and facing the Atlantic Ocean. The state is warm and humid and has very rich biodiversity that includes tropical forests, offshore coral reefs and 635 species of birds. The "River of Raptors" is famous among nature enthusiasts for the fall when hawks migrating north to south pass along the Veracruz coast.
The Port of Veracruz is Mexico’s first port and the oldest post-Columbian city in North America. It was declared property of the King of Spain when the Spanish Hernan Cortez arrived there in 1519.
Veracruz has one of the top ten convention centers in Mexico, the World Trade Center Veracruz, with 52,493 square feet of event space that can be divided to fit any size group, as well as four private business rooms for up to 10 people. The WTC Veracruz, located in the commercial heart of Veracruz City and surrounded by shopping centers, 800 hotel rooms and restaurants, hosts events of international caliber, such as the 2009 Annual International Conference and Exposition of World Aquaculture Society.
The International Airport of Veracruz has flights to and from Houston and national flights to Monterrey, Cancun and a short 45-minute hop to Mexico City.
