The name comes from the Nauhatl language. The original pronunciation is temazcalli, combining  temas (steam) and calli (house). This ancient technique has been used throughout Mexico’s history as a ritual therapy for both healing and ceremonial purposes. Fortunately, through the oral traditions of indigenous communities, it has survived.
