The state of Durango has more than four dams whose reservoirs make for good flat water kayaking which is very popular and fun for the whole family.
The Guadalupe Victoria dam is just nine miles from the city of Durango. Here you can fish from your kayak for a variety of species such as largemouth black bass, capri blanco and bluegill.
The reservoir has picnic facilities and even a small boat ramp.
Bayacora Santiago dam, with its 2,500-foot-long dam wall, is a peaceful spot 12 miles from the capital. It too is a good place for kayaking.
Here you can also fish for bass, catfish, crappie and capri.
