Tepoztlán is verdant, humid, and flanked by jagged cliffs… perfect for almost any extreme sport. You can go on a hot air balloon ride in Yautepec, just 12 miles to the south of Tepoztlán, as well as in the Tepozteco National Park in Tepoztlán itself, a great way to get a bird’s eye view over the town.
You can go parachuting to the southeast of Tepoztlán on highway 95, where professional instructors give classes, making it safe for anyone who has a penchant for jumping out of a plane from 12,000 feet.
Mountain biking is another exciting option in the Tepozteco National Park, where you can negotiate tricky slopes; mountaineering is also possible on the cliff faces with 1,200-feet climbs.
