In Jalisco culture is forged with lovely craft pieces created to the rhythm of son, jarabe and mariachi music, which play as those admiring them enjoy a caballito –shot glass – of tequila.
Sorrow, love, love lost, and joy: such are the subjects of the songs that fill every corner of the state, where the mariachi music never stops playing, filled too with lovely works of talavera ceramics hand-painted with great care, and works of blown glass that make up tableware and dinner services of striking beauty.
The state is kept warm under attractive jorongos (ponchos), produced in Talpa and the area of Los Altos, and lit up by the colors of the deshilado embroidery technique from Tuxpan and those from the fascinating Huichol region. Together with unique handicrafts made from ceramics, blown glass and wood, as well as figures made from maize leaves and objects from natural rubber, these all keep alive the cultural heritage of the lands of Jalisco and its people, who fill it with important traditions and customs that have spread all over the country as a synonym of Mexican identity.
