White-tailed deer and mule deer are the favorite prey of tourists who hunt here. With its great hunting traditions, the state of Durango has ten authorized hunting ranches.
Species such as collared peccary, scaled quail, wild turkey, white-winged dove and teal are just some of the other trophies that hunters can bag in Durango.
There are five ranches near the city with all the facilities necessary for hunting: La Luna, Molinillos, El Tecuán, Sierra del Nayar and Rancho El Durangueño. The latter with its 56,000 acres also offers hunting for Gould turkey, a bird prized for its delicious meat.
