Tepoztlán’s natural beauty and lush vegetation make it a great place to go camping. Campers have a number of options to choose from: the Campo Escuela Scout Meztitla, a scout camp that is also open to the general public, where you can also see cave paintings on the surrounding rock faces.
Set amid beautiful green spaces which immerse visitors in nature, Camomila is another of Tepoztlán’s most traditional campsites and very popular for companies organizing away days for their employees. It also offers basic courses in astronomy, first-aid workshops, animal protection programs, and cabin accommodation for those uncomfortable staying in tents.
You can also put up your tent in Xopilco in the small nearby village of Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl, just 5 miles from Tepoztlán. Here you can camp surrounded by woodland under the mountains, relax in the natural surroundings, and even go on horse rides.
