Adrenaline runs at full gallop very close to the Periferico Manuel Avila Camacho, one of Mexico City’s most important avenues, because, on Industria Militar Avenue without number, the Racetrack of the Americas is located. This is a unique venue built in 1943, which, after a period of inactivity, reopened in 1999.
Over 1,800 thoroughbred horses and mares live in the stables, where experts are particularly concerned with their food and training for a good performance. Before the start of the race, they check their condition, get them to warm up on the track, and at the end of the race, they test the winners. In regard to the track, the oval has a total length of 4,619 feet, and up to 14 horses can race on it at one time.
