With over three decades of history, the Mazatlan Aquarium continues to be one of the most complete of its kind in Latin America. Due to its facilities and shows, it has become a perfect and not to be missed place to spend an afternoon with the family and in contact with the marine wonders living in its shores. In this aquarium you will find a variety of approximately 200 species from various parts of the world. Visit the hexagonal central tank with a capacity for 123,000 liters of salt water, with 66 millimeter thick glass.
What will you be able to see?
This large aquarium has 52 tanks with hundreds of species such as sea lions, turtles, sharks, octopus; fresh and salt water fish in all the sizes and colors you can imagine. If you want to learn a little more about life in the ocean, visit the Museum of the Sea, where the bones of marine animals, shells and a collection of fishing gear and methods are exhibited. In its botanical garden, you will see over 75 species of trees from all over the world, in addition to a frog pond with 21 types of frogs and around 120 frogs from 13 different species such as zacate frogs, espolones toads, green tree frogs, pinto frogs, the Mazatleco toad and even a Cane Toad. Visit the crocodile pond and the aviary housing peacocks, mallards, pelicans, pigeons, roosters, parrots, macaws and parakeets. A whole world waiting to be found!
What you should know
If you like excitement, step into the shark tank and swim among them. The Mazatlan Aquarium offers you the option to dive into the water of its Central Fish Tank to admire these fish up close without anything to worry about and do away with the myth that these are aggressive animals. In addition to two Gata Sharks, you will be able to touch two hawksbill turtles, 50 different species of fish, two cownose stingrays and one hawk stingray. You will also be able to met Toby, a friendly sea lion, which is the star of the show and the park’s mascot, one of the best shows in Latin America.
