Xilitla, San Luis Potosi

I really don't know how many times we asked how far away the nearest beach was ('about 200 kilometers away and it's Tampico' they said) because Xilitla seems a lot more like the Gulf of Mexico than the center of the country; it forms part of the humid Huastec region. It's also the continent's last stretch of jungle when travelling south to north. That's probably why Xilitla's greenery comes across with such force: it's as if the region despairs knowing that it's at the tail end of such exuberant jungles and wants to prove itself the majestic culmination of it all.
