San Sebastian Bernal, Queretaro

Founded in 1642, San Sebastian Bernal is pretty and kempt: it would shine in any part of the Mexican Republic. Nevertheless, it's the 350-meter monolith in the middle of Queretaran fields that makes the town truly stand out. In our trip we wanted to get to know and enjoy the town from as many angles as possible while also discovering its formidable rock mountain, known as Bernal Peak (La Peña de Bernal).

How to Get There

San Sebastian Bernal, Queretaro

From Queretaro take State Highway 100 towards Higuerillas. From San Juan del Rio or Sierra Gorda take Federal Highway 120 towards Ezequiel Montes; there you'll turn west towards State Highway 100. At State Highway 100 turn right towards Bernal. Distance chart: To Tequisquiapan — 34 km; To Queretaro — 54 km; To Mexico City — 216 km
