Jalpan de Serra, Queretaro

It's hard to say what the best part about Sierra Gorda is. On the one hand, there are the fabulous missions where the naturalism of Franciscan friars combined with the talent of the indigenous Pames resulted 250 years ago in a baroque style that is unique worldwide. On the other, there are dreamy landscapes in one of the most biodiverse regions in Mexico. For whatever a traveler may desire, the most ideal base of operations for getting to know this prelude to paradise is this calm and cheerful Magical Town.

How to Get There

Jalpan de Serra, Queretaro

If you're coming from the south, take Federal Highway 120 north. From Huasteca take the same highway through Xilitla in San Luis Potosi. From San Luis Potosi, go through Rio Verde (Federal Highway 69). Distance chart: To Tequisquiapan —160 km; To Ciudad Valles —174 km; To Queretaro —187 km
