Walk through the ancient Otomi zone of the Cerro del Soltepec, in Huamantla and visit La Escondida, place where the movie with the same name was filmed, in which the consecrated actors Maria Felix and Pedro Armendariz starred. In this place, you can go through the secular culture of the region and visit the haciendas, such as Tenaxac, among others, which, during its splendor period extended around 12 thousand 500 hectares and 68 ranches that still have some rooms with original furniture and lighted by oil lamps. Also, there are several historic carriages, from cabriolets and “volantas”, to a brougham, and an interesting collection of saddles. Through the buildings, you can transport yourself to 1950’s Mexico, in which great kitchens you can smell traditional gastronomy.

Know the breeding of the famous Toros de Lidia in the hacienda of Tlangatepec, from 17th century, as well as Hacienda Santa Barbara, with a great body still standing and its beautiful chapel. The Hacienda Santa Agueda y Dolores, built during the Porfirio Diaz period, still has its personality, and is dedicated to dairy and manufacture. In Hacienda Santa Clara Atoyatenco, with its main red wall facade, the beam cover and the great extension of its walls, you shall live the experience of the brick manufacturing haciendas, in which bricks were cooked in great stone ovens.
