Monterrey

Monterrey enjoys a privileged geographic location, in the north of Mexico and very close to the border with Texas. The city has earned renown worldwide for a variety of reasons, principally for its business climate, strong entrepreneurial culture, prestigious institutions of higher education and a world-class health sector with leading medical centers.

At the present time, the economy of Nuevo Leon state (mainly Monterrey and its metropolitan area as a whole) is one of the largest in Mexico, accounting for 7.5% of the national GDP, producing 10.9% of all manufactured goods in Mexico, and having an income per capita of U.S. $17,170.

The city has much to offer in terms of entertainment and culture, as well as extensive infrastructure for holding congresses and conventions:

  • Monterrey’s airport is the principal hub in northern Mexico

  • The airport operates 206 daily flights to over 30 destinations in Mexico and also in the United States and Central America

  • Two convention centers: Cintermex (198,000 ft² for exhibition and 85,000 ft² for conventions) and Convex (57,000 ft² for exhibition and 69,000 ft² for conventions)

  • Unique meeting spaces that will make that important event truly unforgettable

  • More than 100 hotels and a total of some 12,000 rooms, with competitive rates for all budgets

  • Assured quality services to visitors

  • A considerable number of cultural, recreational and tourism spaces

Monterrey is a city ready to organize and attract international events as has been proven in recent years with the United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development in 2002, the OAS Special Summit of the Americas of the OAS in 2004, the Universal Forum of Cultures Monterrey in 2007, the World Foundry Congress in 2012. And a large number of conferences and exhibitions that take place in town every year.
