With tremendous biological diversity, scuba diving in the Pacific is a fascinating experience. And the beauty of Banderas Bay makes scuba diving in Puerto Vallarta one of Mexico’s top destinations. The water’s clear visibility and warm temperatures explain why experts and beginners alike love to dive here among turtles, octopuses, sharks, dolphins, sea horses, colorful fish, lobsters, moray eels, giant manta rays, and even whales during certain times of the year.
Various points along the Bay offer visitors the chance to go scuba diving: Majahuitas, the Marietas Islands, Caletas Bay, and the Los Arcos marine reserve. Diving operations offer access to each of these areas so that beginners can explore the caves, tunnels, and imposing rock formations.
More experienced divers can explore exotic locations equipped with two tanks, such as in El Morro and off Corbeteña Island, dive sites that are tricker but less crowded.
Divers can also have underwater adventures around the Los Anegados rock banks, a dive site located between El Morro and the Marietas Islands. Night excursions are also offered in other areas.
Puerta Vallarta snorkeling adventures are fun too, with many snorkeling tours also including kayaking or sailing.
