Puerto Vallarta is a fun-filled destination throughout the year. Apart from the national holidays, the port celebrates a number of parties and festivals to ensure that visitors will have plenty of choices. The most important traditional-historical events of this seaside town include sports competitions, cultural shows and traditional celebrations.
Every two years in February, the Marina del Rey Regatta brings together sailing enthusiasts from all over the world. It is a truly marvelous spectacle.
In March, the town of Pitillal’s patron saint is venerated with a non-stop street fiesta; and in May the port’s anniversary is commemorated for a period of over two weeks, with floats, processions and other open-air activities.
Special environmental care is taken during the months of June and August, when you can release marine turtles and help them reach the coast.
Mexican independence celebrations take place in the port in September, and the city marks the occasion with mariachis and processions. The traditional verbena parties continue until the end of the month, when the Day of the Mariachis is celebrated.
Toward the end of the year, one of the most successful festivals takes place: Puerto Vallarta’s Gourmet Festival. Internationally-acclaimed chefs come to this event when visitors can enjoy an unrivalled gastronomic festival.
What better way to finish the year than with a celebration of culture and art. The Puerto Vallarta Film Festival takes place at the end of November, when films with an environmental theme are shown.
